The GlySure™ Sensor utilizes a fluorescence detection chemistry to continuously measure glucose in critically ill patients.

GlySure Sensor

Light is pulsed from the monitor through a connecting cable and down the optical fibre in the sensor, exciting the detection chemistry (containing a diboronic acid receptor attached to a flurophore) that is immobilised at the distal end, causing a fluorescence emission.

When the glucose comes in contact with the detecting chemistry, it results in an increase in fluorescence intensity that is directly proportional to the glucose concentration in the blood, which is then detected within the monitor.

The GlySure Sensor chemistry’s high specificity to glucose and the presence of additional barriers eliminates any potential interference and produces accurate real-time continuous glucose measurement.
